Show Notes

What happens when autistic kids grow up—and what changes, if anything, about autism over time? In this follow‑up episode of The CrazyFitnessGuy® Show, host Jimmy Clare continues his conversation with Julie Meyerowitz, MS, CCC‑SLP, an experienced speech‑language pathologist and RDI (Relationship Development Intervention) consultant, about aging and autism.

Julie shares what she has seen working with autistic children, teens, and young adults in schools and homes across several states, and how needs can shift as people gain experience, support, and self‑knowledge. Together, Jimmy and Julie explore which challenges may soften with the right help, which areas can remain hard, and why every autistic person’s path into adulthood looks different.

This episode is for autistic adults, parents, and caregivers who worry about the future and want grounded, hopeful information rather than scary predictions. You will hear practical ideas and encouragement for supporting autistic people at any age, plus a clearer way to answer the question “Can autism change over time?”

Key take‑aways from the episode:

  • How autism can look different in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood

  • What “change over time” really means (skills, coping, independence) versus what stays the same

  • How RDI and relationship‑based approaches can support growth at different ages

  • Why it is never “too late” to support an autistic person’s development
