Show Notes

If you are autistic or love someone who is, you have probably wondered: “Will things get easier or harder as we get older?” In this episode of The CrazyFitnessGuy® Show, host Jimmy Clare talks with speech‑language pathologist and RDI (Relationship Development Intervention) consultant Julie Meyerowitz, MS, CCC‑SLP, about how autism can look across the lifespan and what “change over time” actually means.

Julie draws on years of experience working with autistic children and teens in school and home settings to explain what she sees improving with support, what tends to stay challenging, and why every autistic person’s path is unique. Together, Jimmy and Julie explore common questions like “Can autism change with age?” and “What kinds of skills can still grow later in life?” in a grounded, hopeful way.

This conversation is especially helpful for parents, caregivers, and autistic adults who feel anxious about the future and want honest information without doom and gloom. You will hear real‑world insight from a professional who respects autistic differences and focuses on relationships, communication, and quality of life—not “fixing” people.

Key take‑aways from the episode:

  • How autism can show up differently in early childhood, school years, and beyond

  • The difference between autism itself and the skills and coping strategies that can change

  • How RDI and relationship‑based approaches support growth over time

  • Why continued support and understanding matter at every age, not just in childhood
